Macie's 2nd Grade Field Trip

I was able to be a chaperone on Macie's field trip to Placerita Nature Center. It was such a pretty day! We saw lots of animals, went on a small walk, learned about different trees and the history of Placerita Canyon. I like Macie was glad I was there with her. She was in my group along with her buddies. It was a fun but very tiring day.

Ethan & Caleb's Swim Meet

Ethan & Caleb had their final dual swim meet against Canyon High School. They did so well. Caleb beat Ethan every time they raced together! Caleb set a new personal record for himself! 50 yard freestyle in 26.90 seconds & beat his big brother in their race together. To quote Caleb… “Ethan has cello, but I have swim!” *insert evil laugh here* Well done, Caleb! Lastly, Miley, Caleb's crush, came to watch him swim which was very sweet.

Happy 42nd Birthday to Freddie!

We got back from San Diego on Saturday, April 6th and celebrated Fred's birthday on Sunday, April 7th since his birthday was on a Monday this year and he had to go back to work. To celebrate, Fred and I spent the day together. He said that's exactly what we wanted to do. We got a couple's massage and had a very yummy lunch with a wine tasting. Then we heard Ethan play at his Carnegie Hall Preview Concert (since he leaves this week!) and then went to an Italian restaurant in Burbank. After that, Fred's mom and dad came by and we had cheesecake and sang Happy Birthday. It was a lovely day.

Freddie is my bestest friend, favorite person in the world & love of my life. He's aging like fine wine & still sexy as hell (especially with that silver fox beard).

Spring Break in San Diego

We had plans to go camping for Spring Break but our campsite was going to be muddy from the 3 days of rain it had the days prior to our reservation which also meant the river would be too full to enjoy and play in. We had plans to go with the Champions too and they couldn't go for the entire time anyway so we made the decision to forgo that plan.

So, we decided to go to San Diego instead! It was a fun trip! Here's a breakdown of the days:

Day One- On the drive down we got Baja Fish Tacos and stopped at La Jolla to see the sea lions and seals. After that, we walked around Old Town San Diego. The kids made candles, we had Root Beer floats and enjoyed really yummy Mexican food.

Day Two- We had breakfast at this sketchy, weird place and then spent the day at Sea World. We watched the dolphin and orca shows, fed sea lions, the older kids went on some roller coasters, went on the Sky Rise and Ethan got a walrus stuffy while Macie got a sea lion stuffy. Everyone had such a fun time and loved the sea lions, walrus and penguins the most.

Day Three- Had a big breakfast at this retro joint then spent the day at the San Diego Zoo. We were all kinda tired from the beginning because of having done Sea World the day before. By early afternoon, we were all very tired and decided to take the tour bus around the park before leaving. We saw SO many animals on the tour bus than we did walking around and realized we hadn't even seen half the park on foot! That place is just massive. After, we came back to the hotel. Dad, Mom, Macie and Asher went to the pool/spa while Ethan and Caleb chilled and napped. Then we went to Benihana for dinner. We had a reservation but didn't get seated until an hour after our reservation time and finished very late. It was fun but a long day. The kids loved the meal and experience.

Day Four- We ate at a very yummy breakfast place which ended up being our favorite between the three days of breakfasts. We then went to Balboa Park and toured the Comic Con museum they had where we saw first edition comics which were super cool. We toured the rest of the museum too which focused on technology which was cool. After that, we walked around a bit more and then were ready for home. We picked up our bags from the hotel, stopped at Chick Fil A and finally made it home. The dogs went nuts and were so happy to see us.

It was a fun vacation and really nice to get away with the family. Something that were cherishing more and more now that the older kids are so busy with their lives.

Ethan Asks Izzie to Prom

Ethan asked Izzie to prom! He made a poster that said, 'Let's Spring into action at Prom!" and wrote her a song which he played for her with his guitar. He presented her with flowers and she was so excited and surprised. Of course she said yes! They're so excited for prom!

Ethan's Wind Ensemble Concert

Ethan is in the Wind Ensemble for Hart Band. He's the only one playing the cello and upright bass. The rest are playing wind instruments. The concert was 'A Rich Musical Heritage Concert' which included Placerita's Advanced Band, Hart's Concert Band and Hart's Wind Ensemble. Nana, Papa, Ethan's girlfriend, Izzie and his friend, Bretton all came to support. They were outstanding! It was really fun to see Ethan play the upbright bass! Great job, Ethan!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We had a fun day of going to the Farmer's Market, walking downtown Newhall and making a fun dinner. We had corned beef and cabbage, Irish Soda Bread, a rainbow fruit platter, salad, pistachio pudding cake, and rainbow sherbet drink and Dad performed an Irish jig for us. Of course we all wore our green too. We dressed up Butter and she, like always, hated it. But we all had a good laugh about it. I love dressing up in theme anytime I can. Such a fun day!
