Caleb's Ear Tubes Surgery

Once again, it was back to the surgery room for Caleb. He's been having constant ear infections... like 5 in one year. Finally we were referred to our ENT (who did his tonsils). He looked in his ears and said he had fluid in his ears that won't/can't drain and he would need tubes. It's a quick surgery, only under for 30 minutes and he'll be in and out. BUT anytime he goes into the water (swimming AND bath) he has to wear ear plugs. Which wouldn't be that bad but he could have these plugs for years! How annoying is that?!

If it will take away the pain he was having in his ears then it's worth it of course but still a drag to wear plugs constantly. Since he had to be at the surgery center at 6am, we decided it was best if only one of us take him and the other stays home with the other kids. Caleb said he wanted Daddy to go with him so that's what he did. He was done before 8am and was happy and totally normal. It wasn't until the afternoon that the pain meds wore off and he was hurting and tired. He was just grumpy and crying. We gave him some medication for pain and gave him his ear drops and he quickly fell asleep.

That was the only time he wasn't like his normal Caleb. He did so well and was so brave. Caleb is one tough cookie and already been through a lot in his short little life. He's had extensive dental work, broken his arm, tonsil surgery, chipped a tooth, and now this. I'm so proud of him with how well he's done with all his mishaps. He certainly is one special boy.

Caleb before he left. This was at 5:30am...I'm not a morning person. Either is he.

 My sweet boy.

Still groggy from waking up.
