So, we had a massive change in November. Fred got a call out of no where from someone who he knows that used to work for T-Mobile. When Metro PCS merged with T-Mobile, Darrin's position was no longer available and he was asked to work at corporate in Seattle. He decided not to and went to work for a company called 'Freeway Insurance'. Since Freeway doesn't have a training program, he called Fred and offered him the job of being Director of Training at Freeway Insurance. Darrin had worked with Fred at T-Mobile and they knew each other from various projects. Darrin knew what Fred was capable of and wanted him at his company. This was totally out of the blue.
Fred and I worked out the numbers so we could give Darrin a number on what we'd like as far as pay. It has to be worth our while after all! We did the math and gave him our offer. We were way off on what he wanted to pay us. Way off. So, we said no. A few days later, he called us with a new offer, closer to what we wanted with other added perks and various increases of pay through bonuses etc.
We thought long and hard about it. We weren't prepared for that! After much talk and discussion, Fred and I decided it would be best for his career right now. Our phone bill went up, our insurance went up etc but we're okay with that right now. He's in charge and director of all training and gets to call the shots. This will look very good on his resume. If the company ever sells, which they hope for in 5 years or less, we will get a share of that and will be able to find something else, or go back to T-Mobile and get a higher position job. We're not sure where this will take us but we both feel it was a good career move for him and give him more experience.
He started on November 18th. He got a new wardrobe, new look and new haircut. He just finished his 1st month on 'on-boarding' which consists of visiting stores, meeting people, learning and passing his insurance exam. He officially has his license as an insurance broker. I swear, he amazes me in what he can learn in such a short amount of time. So, we are no longer with T-Mobile which is still weird to think about and he had lots of goodbye celebrations with all his T-Mobile friends and co-workers. They are missing him and I think he still misses it too but is happy with where he is now. It will all just take time to adjust. We're grateful we could get a pay raise in this economy and that he was sought out for his skill set. We love T-Mobile and are thankful for all the people and opportunity that has come our way because of that great company. We also are excited for the future and expanding our horizons.

A goodbye party for Fred. They gave him a very nice clock for his new office.
A T-Mobile event he attended a few days before starting at Freeway.
