Epic {FREE} Disneyland Trip

A few days before Fred's birthday in April, we got a package from Fred's work. It was (5) 2-day Disneyland tickets, a one night stay at the Grand Californian, 3 autograph books, 3 Disney pens, 5 Mickey ear hats and (2) $50 Disney gift cards. I thought it was maybe for his birthday but it turns out it was just a thank you for all his hard work.

You see, Fred hired 2 people for his team. He's the Director and is just starting a training program at Freeway. From scratch. It's A LOT of work. Well, within the same week, the people he hired both quit because they got better job offers. That meant all the trainings coming up, Fred had to do all by himself. He was doing the work of 5+ people alone. He was gone all. the. time. Also stressed out that he would text me things like, "I've never been so stressed out- I just want to cry." I felt so bad. And this gift was the company's way of saying thank you. What I like most is it's something for our whole family. We've sacrificed too. We don't see him a lot, no help at home etc. We were so excited to get this. We've never stayed at such a nice place before. They even gave us more Disney money! A total of $250.

So, May 9th we surprised the kids and got them out of school early. They knew all about this trip but I told them they still had to go to school so they were shocked when I came early. Then we met Fred at work and went to lunch. Then we went to the hotel, checked in and went swimming. After we came back to clean up, we walked around the hotel, Downtown Disney and tried to find a place to eat. Everyone at a wait of at least 2 hours. So, we went to the Storybook Cafe in the hotel. They had a buffet. It was so yummy but pricey. It was $100 for us all!! There went our first $100...

Then we woke early, did the same thing for breakfast (which was so good) but yet again $100. So now we only had $50 Disney money left. Haha We went into the park early for Magic Hour and did Star Tours. Ethan loved it. Caleb was... indifferent. Then we did Peter Pan. It wasn't too bad. Then the park officially opened. We were at Disneyland an CA Adventure from 8am-9pm. We were tired. Ethan went on Big Thunder Mountain for the first time and loved it. The older boys also did Soarin Over CA and loved it. It's nice now we can do bigger rides with them. They each got a toy and we called it a night. We only spent about $80 of our own money. Not too shabby. We go back this Saturday to use our 2nd day then it's no more Disneyland again for a long time.
