Emily & Kirsten do Disneyland

This past weekend, Emily came down for a girls getaway. I was taking her to Disneyland for her birthday. After we found out she was going to be moving, this trip needed to happen that much more. She came down Thursday night and Friday morning, after taking the kids to school, we were off to Disneyland. Fred was going to be working from home that day and picking the boys up from school. I appreciate so much his willingness to let me do things with my friends, without kids. He's such a good dad.

Before we even entered the park, my backpack broke. So, we had to get a bag for me first thing. After a long and really fun day, we ate dinner at the Blue Bayou. She had never been and always dreamed of going. It was a pricey meal ($120 plus tip to be exact) but so worth it. It also was the first time she's ever had Filet Mignon. Then we came home, crashed and tried to get some sleep for another full day on Saturday.

Saturday we did CA Adventure. Once again, we had such a great time. We were there all day too. I got a pin to remember this trip and we both got some jewelry too. However, Saturday night around 1am Emily finished going to the bathroom and our toilet flooded. The only problem was earlier that day the toilets would gurgle when someone would shower and the shower was draining really slow. Then at 1am, both toilets became clogged and also the bathtub. We tried everything and got Drano from the store and tried to control it. With no such luck, we all went to bed. The next morning, no one could use any toilets and we had the boys' Primary Program early and family was coming over after. I told them all about the situations and we all went to the bathroom at the church before coming back to our house. While eating our brunch, the Roto-Rooter guy came. He fixed it (or we thought) and for the next 2 days, all was okay. Then day 2 it all started to do the same thing again. Gurgle, clog etc. So, the Roto-Rooter guy came back and put a camera down the main pipe.

It was FULL of roots. 22 feet worth of roots! It's amazing we could even get a few flushes in those 2 days. He scarped away the roots as much as he could with a blade and we should be okay for the next 6 months.

Ok, now back to Sunday... we ate our brunch and played a quick game of The Office with Fred, Jake, Emily and I. Then Emily left. After all the family left, we went to the beach to take family pictures then I left for Sing Noel Christmas practice. It was an insane weekend full of fun and craziness. Memories definitely were made. I'm so happy she could come down, and I could treat her to two days of Disneyland and the Blue Bayou. She had never been away from her kids before so this was very much deserved.

I'm going to miss her like crazy when she moves across the USA but I know we'll always be best friends. She means the world to me. This is a trip I'll always remember and hold dear.
