Asher is doing well, academically, at school. Behaviorally, he's been having some problems. At recess and lunch he's choosing to play with kids who are not the best influences and it's showing at home. I recently sent a text message to Fred saying that Asher needs a Daddy & Asher day and he told me he thought the same thing just the day before. So, clearly this is something we both see the need for. He will be having his special day this weekend.
Yesterday, while taking Caleb to cub scouts, I had Asher with me while Ethan stayed home with Macie because she was napping. After I dropped Caleb off, I surprised Asher by going to get some ice cream. Even though it was just for a short time, it was a special time. One on one time with my boys is a rare thing so I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity that we were alone. Asher is such a character and truly so funny. He's been a big helper with Macie lately and he wants to do so well in school. I'm grateful I listened to the Spirit telling me to ditch the norm and go get ice cream.
We've started to have Asher go to bed earlier (7pm/7:30pm instead of 8pm) and it's been helping. He's becoming more kind to Buttercup too. I think we all forget that he needs more sleep than he's getting and he's still just 6 years old. The older boys seem so much older and I need to remember Asher is still a little Boo, MY little Boo and he needs some more extra attention and love sometimes. Sure do love this boy.
