Macie Breaks Her Collarbone

Macie broke her collarbone. It started, to us, when she woke up from her nap and started complaining  about a hurt and she would point to her left neck region. We thought maybe she slept on it funny and kinked her neck, staining the muscle. That night, she was horrible and miserable. She woke up every couple hours for hours at a time. Pain medicine was doing nothing for her. I kept getting the feeling that something else was wrong and took her to the doctors. I explained what I thought happened and so she only checked her neck. She said the muscle was tight and suggested continuing with pain reliever and massaging it when I could. The problem was, Macie wouldn't let me near where it hurt. It had been doing on for 3 days now. That same 3rd day, after we went to the doctors, I noticed a giant lump over her shoulder. If you look in the pictures, you can see one side is higher than the other. I immediately called the doctor and asked if she has felt, seen or noticed it. In the meantime, my stomach was in knots and I had so much anxiety. I just felt that something was seriously wrong.

We went back to the doctors the next day and we discovered after examination and x rays, that Macie had a broken collarbone. I immediately felt my anxiety go away after we found that out. I finally knew what was wrong with my baby and I would be able to know how to help her. I called Fred and told him. He met us at the x ray office and stayed home the rest of the day. I was exhausted from lack of sleep and SO MUCH CRYING. It had been 6 days of constant pain and crying from her. She got a brace that day and I could instantly see a change in her. She would still whine but wasn't inconstant pain anymore.

It's now been 2 weeks with the brace and we will go back soon to see if she can take it off and how much she's healed. We still aren't 100% sure how it happened but looking back, Sunday morning, she and Asher ran into each other in the hall and she screamed more than her usual crying of getting hit and getting a bonk. Then we put her down for a nap long after that and when she woke, thats when the pain started for her. So, I think it was when they ran into each other but we still aren't completely sure. Either way, it's been a whirlwind trying to figure out what was wrong with her and then trying to keep her from jumping or being rough.

We now have had 2 kids with broken bones.
Caleb broke his arm when he was 2.
Macie broke her collarbone when she was 2.

I'm hoping this next appointment will be good news that she's healed!
