Ethan's Award

Ethan got the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence! About a week before this awards ceremony, I got an email saying "Your child is getting an award for outstanding character or academic achievement. I didn't think much of it other than, "Well done, Ethan!" Turns out, it's a pretty big deal. They handed out awards for Outstanding Character and then specific awards for Math, Science, History etc. Even Physical Education. However, they still hadn't called Ethan's name. I was wondering what he would get an award for since they pretty much covered everything. I was beginning to think I got that email by mistake! The whole 5th grade class was there but only 1/3 of the students received an award which I thought was cool but they still hadn't called Ethan's name.

Then Principal Lyon said that it was time to give out the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence to only 6 recipients. These students have achieved academic success in ALL areas AND have exemplified Outstanding Character. Then she called Ethan's name.

Tears instantly came to my eyes as I felt immense pride and joy. I am so humbled to be a mom to such a fantastic kid. We are SO proud of him. He works hard and tries to be better with everything he does. The kind words that the principal spoke about the 6 recipients were so kind. The congratulations he received from his peers was so heartwarming. They kept telling him that he deserved it. I totally agree. This kid is an amazing kid.
We love you, Ethan! Well done, son.

 Well done!
