Ethan had his 'Morning of Memories' on the last day of school. Since they don't have a formal graduation, they do this instead. The 5th graders will sit in chairs during the assembly and then say goodbye to all the teachers at Castille. Ethan gave Mr. Gruenewald a big hug since he is Ethan's favorite teacher he's had.
He high fives kids along the way to the den where each 5th grader shared their favorite memory at Castille. Ethan said his favorite was going to the Kellogg House in 3rd grade.
Then they show a slideshow. They start it with showing pictures and video of the 5th graders as Kindergarteners and go through each year. Thats when both Fred and I started to cry. Seeing little Ethan as a itty bitty Kindergartener, singing as a little 1st grader etc. They showed pictures of the 5th graders with their families too and that brought tears to my eyes as well.
It was an emotional morning for both Fred and I. So many thoughts and feelings running through my head. Questions like: How did this happen? How did we get here? Is this really happening?
This past year was the last time all 3 boys will be at the same school which makes me sad. We all have enjoyed being at Castille together. Then I thought about how I will be doing this again next year with Caleb!
I'm so proud of Ethan and feel that its so bittersweet for him to be going to Middle School. Time is flying by and I can't seem to make it slow down. I'm so happy his friend Jack Karakash and his family were able to come and be a part of the Morning of Memories. Ethan has missed Jack and I have really missed my friend, Tami. I'm sad to not see these moms around Castille anymore. But, I know Ethan will do so well in Middle School and he is ready for a new adventure. He told me he was 1/4 sad and 3/4 excited.
He's on to bigger and better...
