On our last full day, we started with a hike near our hotel. It ended up being a bust. It was steep, hard and we couldn't find the spot we were suppose to. People kept telling us about this spot where you could slide down multiple rocks into the lake but we couldn't find it. The trail was so hard, steep and taking way longer than anyone led on. It was also full of bugs! We were sweating and so annoyed by the bugs. We called it quits after a while and decided to venture back into Yosemite instead. I knew I wanted us to check out Yosemite Falls because it was an easy walk and we were pretty worn out from the week already. It turned out to be a very busy tourist spot but still really fun. We found that below the falls were places where people were swimming in the river and exploring. We ended up playing in the water for over 4 hours. It was freezing but it felt really refreshing because it was a HOT day. The boys found this really big boulder that they could slide off of into the water and they did it over and over again. Macie got brave and wanted to be in the water too. After many sunscreen reapplications and snacks, it was finally time to get food and head back to the hotel. It was a fun day to end our trip. Still adventurous but more laid back. Yosemite Falls are beautiful!
Day 6 was spent packing, loading the car up and driving home. After that, we stopped by Bass Lake. Fred released Greg's ashes into the lake and it was special experience for all of us. The kids were very respectful and after he released the ashes, we gave him a few moments alone at the lake while we waited in the car. I think it was therapeutic for him and it'll be something he'll remember for a long time. I'm grateful he had that opportunity and it made our trip that much more special.
