He is an excellent student and really tries his best in school. He loves the praise. Ethan also enjoys drawing, art, playing on his iPad, Crome Book, and video games. He is very much a homebody. He only likes to be away from home for so long. He loves playing with his plastic animals, reading and playing with sticks in the backyard while he uses his imagination. He is very creative.
He has a new group of friends at school that he eats and hangs out with. Most of them are in orchestra like he is. He is still friends with some kids from Castille Elementary but not many. He will babysit for me for short periods of time which is very helpful and overall is my most obedient child. Since he turned 12, he is now is the YM program at church which he's excited about. He is such a good boy and always tries to do the right thing. I'm so proud of him. He is almost as tall as me now and his shoe size is bigger than mine!
Since it was his party year, he got to have a party at Dave & Busters. The YM/YW also had a temple trip planned that day and he decided he wanted to go. So, here's how the day went:
12pm: Ordination
12:30pm: Temple Recommend Interview
2-4pm: Birthday Party at Dave & Busters
5-7pm: Temple to do Baptisms for the Dead
7-8:30pm: In N Out
It was such a busy day! My parents drove down to be a part of the ordination which was really great. Then the bishop did a quick interview at our home after. Fred took him to the church right after the party so he could go to the temple with all the youth. When I asked him what his favorite part of his birthday was, he said the temple. He said it was so cool. I love that he got to go for his first time on his actual birthday. What a cool experience. In addition to all of this, Ethan also got a new phone! He was so excited about it and has been BEGGING for one for a while. I must say, it is nice being able to text him. It's so convenient.
It was a great day celebrating him. I tried not too think about the fact that he turned 12 too much or look at past videos or photos because I would just start to bawl and lose it when I did. It was too much to think about. I'm so happy he's growing up and learning and experiencing new things but I'm also so sad that he's growing up so fast. I sometimes miss my little Linky being little. It's such a bittersweet feeling. So, for now, I won't be looking at past videos and photos but try my best to enjoy the now.
Happy Birthday, Ethan! We love you so much. We are so proud of you. You are truly a blessing in our lives and we are so honored to be your parents. You are growing into such an amazing young man. Love, Mom & Dad
