Asher's 8th Birthday

Asher's actual birthday was a pretty normal day. We had already had his party and got him his birthday present... a baby sulcata tortoise! Asher named him Toby. We all love him. He's so tiny but before we know it, he'll be huge. Asher's favorite animal at his party was the tortoise. He's been wanting one for over a year. Aunt Lindsey had one and all Asher would do while we saw them was sit and pet the tortoise. It was so sweet. So, we decided to get him a tortoise for his birthday. It may even outlive him but I think he'll be a great buddy for Asher.

After school, we played, did homework and he chose his birthday dinner. It was unique but I expect nothing less when it comes to Asher. He chose refried beans, mac and cheese and pumpkin pie. He doesn't like cake so I'm glad I was able to find his favorite pie during the month of March. Pumpkin isn't too popular in March.

We love our Ashie Boo. He is such a silly and kind soul. Here's what Asher is like at 8 years old:
-He loves to race cars on tracks.
-He loves video games and playing them with his dad and brothers.
-He fully enjoys teasing Macie.
-He also can be so kind, thoughtful and helpful with Macie.
-He wants to grow his hair out long.
-His favorite foods are lasagna and mac & cheese.
-He loves pie and ice cream.
-His favorite color used to be green and now it's blue.
-His best buddy is Anders Paul. They are in class together and Primary.
-He loves to draw and play board games with mom.
-He loves to snuggle and gives the best ones. He's my biggest and bestest cuddle buddy.
-Asher loves to joke and make people laugh.
-He loves attention but only when he wants it and only with certain people.
-He's quiet around people he doesn't know.
-He loves being with Papa. He always wants to be held by him when Papa is around.
-He wants to be a Dad when he grows up.
-He loves putting on every pair of underwear and walk around with a huge bulge. We call him Underwear Man.
-He may not be allergic to bees anymore! Only needs Benadryl. WOOHOO!
-His nicknames are: Boo, Shub, Boo Nugs, Nugglet, Ashie, Ashie Boo, Beansie Boo, Shub Do, Shub Nug etc. It's all variations or additions to the words Ash, Boo, Nug and Shub.
-He is brave but wants you nearby when he's doing something new.
-He is scared of bees (for good reason).
-He loves to take baths.
-The moment he can, he wants to be in PJs.
-He doesn't like wearing pants. Only shorts
-He hates going to church and finds it boring.
-He loves to play with Buttercup and tease her.
-He loves to help me in the kitchen and prep/cook dinner. He's a big helper.
-He's a great reader and does well in school but hates homework.

Asher reminds me of the book character, Tom Sawyer. He is adventurous, mischievous, silly, kind, gentle and loving. He loves his family so much. It's hard to believe that he's 8 years old now. Asher has taught me a lot about being a parent, patience and love in his 8 years of life. He is a constant reminder that God knows what is best for me. I wasn't all that thrilled when I found out Asher was a boy because I already had 2 and I really wanted a girl. Asher's pregnancy was hard and very draining on my physically. Even his delivery was my most painful. But I know Asher is a really special and wonderful boy who needed to be in my life even when I didn't know it yet. I'm so thankful God knows me more than I know myself. He knows what I need and He knew I needed Asher. Ashe brings so much joy, love and personality to this family. We sure do love him.

Happy 8th Birthday, Asher.
I love you so much.
