Asher's Baptism

Asher had a very special and important day just a few days ago. He got baptized and became an official member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I had extended an invitation to some of his friends parents and they came! I was so happy to see his buddies come and support him. He also had so many family members come! It was so wonderful to have so many family and friends there for Asher.

He loved every single minute of attention on his special day. It was all about him! It started with me taking him to get a hair cut and then a 'baptism photoshoot.' I tired my hand at doing it and they turned out pretty well. It was just Asher and I and he was very corporative. He loved being the center of my attention. After that, we came home, all cleaned up and headed to the church. He had a special table that I set up. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to print the photos I had taken so we just used ones we had around the house. It looked great.

He got introduced in the beginning of the program and then sat with Fred in the front. I gave a quick talk on the gift of the Holy Ghost and then we headed into the font area. Fred baptized him and Asher did great in the water! He was very nervous about that part. But with one dunk and Uncle Ammon and Papa as witnesses, he rocked it!

He was confirmed by Fred along with the following men: Brother Rushton (2nd counselor in the Bishopric), Great Uncle Craig, Papa, Uncle Ammon & Trevor (his cousins husband). It was a beautiful confirmation and blessing. Afterwards, we ate at In N Out with our family.

Nana and Papa came over to the house after, just for a short time, so Ethan, Asher and Fred could open birthday gifts. Rylee and Trevor also stayed but for much longer and we all visited and talked.

It was such a great day. I felt the Spirit so strong and I'm sure Asher did too. I can't believe he's 8 and now baptized. Its been more emotional for my having Asher turn 8 and be baptized since he is my baby boy. It marks the end of my boys being so small. It just goes by so quickly and it truly is bittersweet.

We are so proud of Asher and the choice he made to be baptized. I'm also so thankful that Fred was able to baptize him. I know that Heavenly Father is also proud of Asher. It was just such a beautiful day full of love.
