Spring Break in San Diego

We had plans to go camping for Spring Break but our campsite was going to be muddy from the 3 days of rain it had the days prior to our reservation which also meant the river would be too full to enjoy and play in. We had plans to go with the Champions too and they couldn't go for the entire time anyway so we made the decision to forgo that plan.

So, we decided to go to San Diego instead! It was a fun trip! Here's a breakdown of the days:

Day One- On the drive down we got Baja Fish Tacos and stopped at La Jolla to see the sea lions and seals. After that, we walked around Old Town San Diego. The kids made candles, we had Root Beer floats and enjoyed really yummy Mexican food.

Day Two- We had breakfast at this sketchy, weird place and then spent the day at Sea World. We watched the dolphin and orca shows, fed sea lions, the older kids went on some roller coasters, went on the Sky Rise and Ethan got a walrus stuffy while Macie got a sea lion stuffy. Everyone had such a fun time and loved the sea lions, walrus and penguins the most.

Day Three- Had a big breakfast at this retro joint then spent the day at the San Diego Zoo. We were all kinda tired from the beginning because of having done Sea World the day before. By early afternoon, we were all very tired and decided to take the tour bus around the park before leaving. We saw SO many animals on the tour bus than we did walking around and realized we hadn't even seen half the park on foot! That place is just massive. After, we came back to the hotel. Dad, Mom, Macie and Asher went to the pool/spa while Ethan and Caleb chilled and napped. Then we went to Benihana for dinner. We had a reservation but didn't get seated until an hour after our reservation time and finished very late. It was fun but a long day. The kids loved the meal and experience.

Day Four- We ate at a very yummy breakfast place which ended up being our favorite between the three days of breakfasts. We then went to Balboa Park and toured the Comic Con museum they had where we saw first edition comics which were super cool. We toured the rest of the museum too which focused on technology which was cool. After that, we walked around a bit more and then were ready for home. We picked up our bags from the hotel, stopped at Chick Fil A and finally made it home. The dogs went nuts and were so happy to see us.

It was a fun vacation and really nice to get away with the family. Something that were cherishing more and more now that the older kids are so busy with their lives.
