Fred found a tattoo artist through Instagram & made an appointment to get his leg redone/touched up. But then we realized he couldn't keep the appointment because he was getting surgery in a few days for his hernia. So, I asked if I could take his spot. Fred had booked this appointment months ago & I didn't want to waste the spot. I knew what I wanted to it was easy to take the spot. I ended up getting the kids' birth flowers tattooed on the side of my right thigh. I got them in age order & it took about 2 1/2 hours. With this being my first 'big girl' tattoo, I think it went pretty well & didn't really hurt at all. Only a few moments I felt some pain but that was it. I was more ready to be done and sit up as we neared the end of the session. I'm very happy with it. It was cathartic for me since we were heading out to take Ethan to college in a few days. Now I always have my babies with me!
Fred was able to reschedule his appointment & finally got his leg tattoo touched up. Since he had done a tattoo removal session on this particular tattoo years ago, it was in pretty bad shape. It’s such an important piece to him for many reasons & has only taken on more meaning with each passing year. It was extremely cathartic for him to get it redone as he was processing saying goodbye to yet another best friend, Chris, taken too soon by cancer. Now having Chris & Greg gone, this piece is so meaningful to him & he was able to have a good cry while listening to Beyond The Pines by Thrice as he got it redone. We both are planning to get more but for now, we're very happy with the pieces we got & are glad we could each be there for one another as we got these.
