New Years Eve

Just a few short hours ago, we celebrated New Years Eve with the kids. We had pizza, watched Pocahontas and toasted with some Sparkling Cider. We talked about what we liked about 2012 and what we're looking forward to in 2013.

Personally, 2012 for me was a horrible year. Yes, we went to Disneyland a lot and that was so much fun and I got a new car which was awesome but overall, 2012 was a really hard year for me and I know for Fred too. We lost Fred's best friend, Greg but also witnessed his beautiful wedding. This is the year Fred's best friend died. But for both of us, personal trials have come. Very hard and very personal trials. Yet, with these trials, I have come closer to my Savior and have gained a deeper testimony. For me, I was faced with some things that I thought I'd never have to deal with or face. And even though this new year may not take away these trials, I have a better knowledge and understanding that my Savior will never forsake me and with Him, I need not fear. I've learned that life is a beautiful and happy experience yet can also be hard. Very, very hard. I've learned that with the help of my Savior, I can face any trial and have complete trust in Him. It may still be hard, and I will wish for it to go away but I can deal with it and press on with Him by my side. I can now deal with my trial(s) in a better light and understanding.

I don't know what 2013 holds for me and my family but I know that whatever happens, I will always be grateful for all I have. I am truly blessed.

Happy New Year from the Everts. May 2013 be a great year. Cheers!
