Happy 6th Birthday, Ethan!

Ethan turned 6! Holy Moly, I have a SIX year old and I'm only 26! I can't believe it. Memories of little Ethan are foggy now. It seems like so long ago but I try to watch videos and look at pictures to remember. He was such a sweet little boy and he will always have a special place in my heart. He's my first born. The child that made me a mother for the first time. I certainly feel a special bond because of that.

Well, Ethan is now six, writing, reading, and has a massive vocabulary for being 6. One of his favorite shows is 'Word Girl'. The show is based around words, describing words that mean other words and their definition. Everyday I get asked what some random word means and sometimes he really stumps me! I have to look it up! He's a smart smart boy. He loves school and loves to please his teacher. He has a feisty attitude and always wants his way and hates to be punished but what boy does. He also can have a very kind and gentle heart.

He has a budding little testimony. One Sunday his Primary President asked, "How do we come to understand and know Heavenly Father" and Ethan was the only one who raised his hand and said, "We can know Him through prayer." I was so proud. He knows that he can have faith and he can speak to his Heavenly Father anytime. He knows that Jesus is our constant light and when we don't follow Him, we can become lost. He's such a special spirit.

He loves Star Wars, SpongeBob Squarepants, The Office (yes, he loves to watch it with us...not really age appropriate all the time but we absolutely love it and he has learned to love it too.), Word Girl, Pirates and tons more. He likes to ride his scooter, play Angry Birds Star Wars and play on our tablets. He doesn't like doing homework and has recently more things have gone on the list of foods he doesn't like, which include: all beans (except green beans), cheese, milk, ranch, chicken nuggets (if he has to eat them, he will) cream cheese, bagels, sour cream & avocados. Kinda a random kid... he prefers salad, Italian dressing, cucumbers, broccoli and tomatoes and water...unless theirs juice which their never is. He's such an unique individual.

For his birthday, he had his first ever sleepover with a boy from his class, Mikey Hill. He's originally from England so he has a British accent mixed with some Americanized ways of saying certain words. Truth be told, he's kinda a baby and cried a lot... but he's the only boy in his family with 2 older sisters so he doesn't get much wrestling around his house, I think. Our house is the total opposite. They played, (teased Caleb, chased Caleb, Caleb cried) had a Light Saber battle with Fred, Caleb and Asher and ate ice cream, watched a movie and snuggled. Ethan was so excited, right when Mikey came over, all they did was just run through the whole house!

The next day, Mikey came with us to Chuck E. Cheese where we had a little party for Ethan. It was such a fun day!

The day before his birthday. That's him tipping his hat. haha!

They fell asleep together. It was precious.

The picture that was on his cake

I made Ethan's birthday cake and I was excited he chose to do a pirate cake again. I found this cake on Pinterest that kinda was like this... it was a book with some stuff on it. I bought fondant and shaped the two 9 x 13 sheet cakes into a book. Then I covered it with the fondant. Then I bought edible markers and found some pirate(y) script online and copied and free handed the letters to write 'Once There Was A Pirate Named Ethan'. I wanted to make it old looking but didn't want to pay $8 for edible dust so I used my make up. It worked! the X and 6 are cut out from fondant, the water is fondant I colored with the marker, the sand is graham crackers. I drew on the compass, printed the picture on normal paper with ink. Since we don't eat the fondant at our house, I figure it doesn't matter if I put non edible things on it. Anyway, I like how it turned out! Ethan's favorite part was the X.... nice.
