Ethan's 7th Birthday Celebrations

Since Ethan's birthday landed on a Sunday this year, we celebrated on Saturday. We give the kids the option of going somewhere with their $100 birthday budget and if there is money left over they get a gift or to just get gifts and that's it. Both options also include going out to dinner.

He chose to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific. (He had gone there for his 3rd birthday as well.) We started the day with donuts (a yummy special treat around here) and then we packed up lunches and headed off. The kids loved it all. We touched rays, sharks, they took tons of pictures and were very excited about the gift shop. They had all saved their money from Christmas to buy something at the Aquarium. Caleb chose a sparkly key chain (it's a little girly but Caleb is his own person and doesn't care), Ethan got toy sharks and fish sets and Asher got a plastic snake.

Then it was off to Target for Ethan to pick out his birthday gift. I waited in the car with Asher since he fell asleep. But Ethan didn't find anything he liked in the smaller than usual Target so we headed off to his dinner choice, Olive Garden, and he was going to look at a different Target with me later that night.

Asher was really tired and cried all the way to the restaurant and at the beginning of the meal. He calmed down eventually and sat on my lap the whole time. Then Ethan and I went to a super Target. He got an Angry Birds card game with birds and pigs and the 1st Ice Age movie. (We don't own any of them.) He said he was going to give his Angry Birds gift to Caleb since he only got one thing at the Aquarium and the movie was for the family. He was so sweet but I told him maybe he could just share with Caleb but he keeps it since it's his birthday. He agreed. He's so kind and thoughtful.

Then we all went straight to bed. We were all exhausted.

On Sunday, his actual birthday we went to church, watched Ethan's new Ice Age movie, had a big breakfast meal for dinner (his choice) and made cupcakes. Caleb helped me decorate them. Ethan chose Dinosaur cupcakes. But Ethan only ate 1/2 of his cupcake then said he doesn't like sugar and wanted fruit for his next birthday. He's such a funny boy. Then we had a surprise gift for him... a new bathrobe! He's been wanting one for a while now.

Happy 7th Birthday, Ethan!! We love you!
