Memorial Day weekend trip to Palm Desert

We decided to do a spontaneous, last minute trip to Palm Desert for Memorial Day weekend. It was pretty fun. And very hot. Over 100 degrees hot. We started off by stopping at the Dinosaur museum. It's on the way to Palm Desert. The kids loved seeing all the models of the dinosaurs. They mined for some cool rocks and climbed up into the T Rex head. It was way overpriced but they enjoyed it. After that, we went to the Living Desert and Gardens Zoo. Wow- it was SO HOT. It was pretty cool but I think we would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't so hot. We were all sweating and drinking water constantly. We saw some pretty cool animals that are naive to the desert and the inside areas were nice and cool. We had time to kill since we couldn't check in to our hotel just yet. After the zoo and lunch (with ice cream), we got to check into the hotel. After we did, we headed straight to the pool which felt amazing. The next day, the boys all swam and Macie and I napped. She was so tired and teething. After that, we decided to head back home. The traffic was pretty bad but we lucked out! On the way home, we saw Whitewater river and decided to stop. The water felt so good. And it was flowing like crazy! We hung out in a little pool area blocked off by rocks and hung out for a bit to cool off. The kids wanted to stay longer but Macie was done. Then we picked up lunch and headed back home without any more stops. It was a great last minute trip and the kids enjoyed it. While driving I read Matilda and the kids LOVED it. We all laughed at the funny parts. We certainly made some fun memories!
