We hadn't really planned much for Spring Break but knew we wanted to do something. Since Fred had just gone on a train for work (going to Mexico), I thought it would be fun to have us all go to San Diego on the train and stay for a few days. We've been to San Diego multiple times but we had never been on a train so we thought the kids would love that. They totally did! We headed to the train station in San Juan Capistrano and took the Amtrak to San Diego. It was a beautiful ride with pretty views of the ocean a lot of the time. We landed right in the heart of Old Town San Diego and got lunch. After, the boys swam and Macie and I napped. We were pretty tired. After, we walked around Old Town, shopped, ate and looked around the old buildings. We stayed in a Marriott that we've stayed in before. The next day we did breakfast and took an Uber to Balboa Park. We went to the Natural History Museum and it was really awesome. We all agreed that it was better than LA's. We had lunch in the park and finished up the museum after that. We watched the 3D movie they were playing which was pretty fun too. After that, we did some souvenir shopping before heading back home on the train. It was a great, busy and short trip but a lot of fun.
The rest of Spring Break was just hanging around at home which was nice too but I'm glad the kids got to experience the train! I think this is something we'll definitely be doing again!
