Nashville, Tennessee

Confie had their Best of The Best in Nashville, Tennessee this year. Fred and I have never been and were excited to go! We went one day earlier than everyone else and it was the best. We ate really good food and spent the day walking up and down Music Row. The next day we went to breakfast at this amazing place! We sat next to 2 women who told us about all the things they did. They mentioned Franklin, TN to see the Carnton house. It's where the final battle of the Civil War took place. We were sold! We got a tour of the house and the graveyard that is next to the home. It was fascinating. Fred and I love history and we were really interested in all the history surrounding the home and how it related to the Civil War. Definitely worth the 20 mins car ride to get there. After that, we went to 12th South street in Nashville. It had lots of cute shops. This was the other place the ladies recommended we go. We ate at another amazing restaurant. I totally understand how people in the south are so fat. Their food is SO good and loaded with all the things that make food delicious like butter, cream, fried, carbs... it was so delicious.

After that, we went back to our hotel in Nashville to rest up before everyone from work came. We had a cocktail hour then went to dinner with the rest of the Executive Leadership Team. It was such a fancy place with oysters (which I tried and didn't like), lobster tails, wine... all the things.

The next day Fred and I split up. He went with all the men in the ELT to a whiskey tasting while I went to lunch with the wives. It was a nice meal and good conversation. A little awkward at times but that's ok. After that, we all got ready to go to the Grand Ole Opry. They had people sing I'd never heard of and sing songs I didn't know except the church songs. It was a cool venue and smaller than I thought it would be.

The next day Fred and I explored a little bit more about Nashville. We went to the farmers market and walked around the government buildings that were around our hotel. It is so green in Nashville! That night was awards night which ended early (yay!). We were so tired so instead of going out with work people afterwards, we went to bed.

It was a great trip. The best part is being away with Fred in a place we've never been to before. I'm really glad that we have this opportunity with his work to go away every year together. All the kids took care of themselves back home which was great. Asher really stepped up in taking care of his sister while his older brothers were at work in the evenings. I'm proud of them all for being able to handle us being away and responsible to be left at home together. We don't know where we will go next year but I can't wait!
