Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year!

I'll be honest, I don't really like New Years. I feel like it puts too much pressure on people to share all the things they accomplished the past year, all the places they visited etc and can often make people feel unaccomplished. Especially on social media. I also am not one to typically make a goals list for myself because it just sets me up for failure. But I decided that wasn't a good way to think or be and I can just start small so I force myself to consistently be bettering myself. So, I did make a few goals for myself. They're not huge. But it's something...

1. Read 5 books. I didn't read anything last year. So, while this feels like a lofty goal, I know I can do it. I already have my books picked out and am well on my way to finishing one already... that I started last year but no one needs to know that.

2. Allow myself to be mindlessly scrolling on social media in the evenings for no more than an hour. This is a huge one for me because I feel like my vice is my phone. I know I'm on it way too much and honestly doesn't help my mental health. I want to take back my time and end the mindless scrolling and be more present in my life. This will be a very hard one for me.

3. Move my body every day. I am not committing to any workout regiment. I know I won't stick with it. I just want to move my body every day in some way. Most often that will just be a walk. I'd like to get to 10K steps a day but I know that can't always happen with either things we have going on or if I'm working. So, this will be a challenge for me on the days I work. I'm thinking of getting a flat, small treadmill I can easily slide under my bed to walk on while I watch TV in my bedroom. This will allow me to get steps in even when it's dark and cold out and I don't feel like walking outside. We'll see. But for now, it's just move my body every day. I think that's a good goal.

4. Staying on top of my blog and pictures. I let 2023 slip from me and got about 6 months behind with my blog. Since I am home recovering from my hysterectomy that I had Dec 13th, 2023, I was able to use the first 2.5 weeks to solely work on my blog and pictures. I had over 1,200 pictures to go through and needed to print 3 blog books...yes, I was that behind. This year, I am committing to remaining on top of it and not get behind. Now that I figured out how to blog and use Dropbox from my laptop, it'll be so much easier for me to stay on top of it.

That's it! May seem easy things and they are but for me, they're not my norm so it's great for me to push myself to be better.

Anyway- quick recap of New Years:

Macie fell asleep at 10pm. We woke her back up at 11:45pm since she was dead set on staying up for New Years. We all did the New York New Years at 9pm and then at actual midnight, we yelled out Happy New Year outside and let all the boys have a taste of champagne. Ethan said he thought it wouldve been sweeter, Caleb said he liked it and Asher said it tasted like sour grape juice. hahaha

I hope this year brings more saving, some fun trips and most of all, good health and happiness.
